Hocus Pocus Story
Along with the official statement in May 2021, we got our first plot details about what we can expect from the next part.
“3 young women by chance bring the Sanderson Sisters back to modern-day Salem and must summer out how to stop the child-hungry witches from creating a new kind of havoc on the world,” it reads.
This does sound a little bit like the book 2nd part that was released in July 2018 which centered on Max and Allison’s daughter Poppy, her friend Travis and a girl called Isabella who Poppy has a squash on.
In order to inspire Isabella, Poppy sneaks into the Sanderson home during a blood moon and by chance brings the sisters back to life. It’s unclear if this is exactly what will happen in the film sequel, so might end up being non-canon.
The 1st movie ended (spoiler alert) with the magic book winking its eye, proving it’s still alive and the witches could return.
While we might not know much more about the next part, it’s good enough for us to know that the returning actors have been singing its praises. “We looked at and I think all of us agreed that it was pretty great,” Midler said in Nov 2020.
Fret not, Hocus Pocus 2 movie will also feature one musical number like the 1st movie’s iconic ‘I Put a Spell on You’ part. In footage shown at Disney’s upfronts presentation, the sisters carry out Elton John’s ‘The Bitch is Back’, which we cannot wait to see.

The Hocus Pocus sequel plot
The 1st trailer, which released on June 28, gives audience a sneak peek at what’s to come in Hocus Pocus 2 movie. It begins eerily, with great music and a bird flying over a dark body of water. Three young girls are introduced, and we learn that it’s one of their sixteenth birthdays. Meanwhile, the trailer cuts to Richardson’s role telling the girls that, legend has it, witches get their powers at age sixteen.
Of course, this means 2 of the girls start performing some kind of ritual—in a event, no less. As they’re chanting, the trailer flashes to something Hocus Pocus audience will recognize quite well: Winifred’s beloved book of spells, opening its creepy singular eye. Then, boom: The black flame candle—at least, something that looks like the very one that brought the witches back from the dead in the first movie—lights up.
This is where the trailer gets thrilling. The ground of the cemetery quite closely splits open, just before we get a glimpse of the three witches in all their prestige. As they flash on the screen, we hear the word of Winifred, calling out, “Lock up your children, Salem. We’re back!”
